This Privacy Policy explains what information Nocaps ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the Nocaps app and website (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Nocaps, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information — your name, age, gender, and email address, collected when you sign in (including via Google Sign-In).
Profile photos — up to four photos you upload to your profile.
Verification selfie — a photo you take to confirm a profile photo is genuinely you. This is compared automatically against your own profile photos. If that automated check can't confirm a match, the selfie is securely stored for a short period so a member of our team can manually review it. See Section 4 for more detail on this specific use.
Onboarding and compatibility answers — your responses to our AI Buddy during onboarding, including things like personality traits, attachment style, and relationship intent, used to generate compatibility scores with other members.
Messages — your conversations with our AI Buddy, and direct messages you exchange with other members.
Group/partner room data — if you use a shared "room" feature (for compatibility games with a partner or group), we temporarily associate a room ID with your account.
Usage and device data — basic technical information collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure, such as IP address, device/browser type, and standard server logs.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create, display, and operate your profile, and to show you matches.
To generate compatibility scores and insights using our AI systems.
To verify that profile photos genuinely belong to the account holder, as a safety measure.
To enable messaging between you and your matches.
To respond to feedback, support requests, and account deletion requests.
To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

3. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run Nocaps:

Supabase — our database and file storage provider.
Firebase (Google) — for authentication and real-time messaging infrastructure.
A third-party AI language model provider — used to power our AI Buddy conversations and help generate compatibility insights.

These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

4. Photo Verification in Detail

Your verification selfie is used only to confirm that your own profile photos are genuinely you. It is not used for facial recognition against other people, and it is not used to identify you outside of Nocaps.

When you submit a verification selfie, an automated system compares it against the photos already on your profile. If a match is found, your profile is marked verified and the selfie is discarded. If the automated system can't confirm a match after a few attempts — which can happen for reasons like lighting, angle, or accessories such as glasses — the selfie is securely stored for a limited time so a member of our team can manually compare it against your profile photos and confirm the match by hand. Selfies are stored in a private, access-controlled location and are not visible to other members.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Verification selfies are retained only as long as needed to complete verification (automated or manual) and are not kept indefinitely. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see Section 6.

6. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by using the "Delete my account" option in the app's Settings, or by emailing us at nocaps1111@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within a reasonable time and confirm with you once complete.

7. Children's Privacy

Nocaps is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access-controlled storage for sensitive material like verification selfies. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
